  1. QUICK START
  2.  
  3. This chapter purpose is to give an overview of HomeBank by creating an
  4. account step by step.  We assume that HomeBank is already installed
  5. on  your  system.  A translated part of this section is available in the
  6. 'Docs' directory.

  8.  1. Start «HomeBank» by double click on its icon.
  9.  
  10.  2. Define of the Account
  11.     We first fill in the account identity.
  12.     Select 'Account/Account...' menu, fill in the gadgets, then
  13.     click on <Ok>.

  15.  3. Create some Groups
  16.     We can create some groups now, a group is an extra field that we
  17.     can assign to some operations to make some statistics later, e.g.
  18.     'Food', 'Taxes', 'Rent', are such groups.
  19.     Click on <Grou.> button, create some groups by clicking <Add>,
  20.     typing the group name, and pressing <return>, then close the
  21.     window.

  23.  4. Create some Archives
  24.     We can also create some archives now, an archive is in fact a
  25.     pre-defined operation that will be recurent, this will help us at
  26.     edit time and avoid filling the fields everytime we uses it, e.g.
  27.     every month we must pay our rent, we create for that an archive
  28.     set with 'my rent' in wording, the right amount, we validate, we
  29.     select 'cheque' icon and we assign to 'Rent' group.
  30.     Click on <Arch.> button, create some archives by clicking <Add>,
  31.     filling the fields, and pressing <return>, then close the window.

  33.  5. Create some Operations
  34.     We can create some operations now, first we are adding a new one.
  35.     Click on <Add> button, change date, fill in gadgets, then click
  36.     on <Ok>. We can also copy fields using the archive list, click on
  37.     the small loop right the 'Wording', a list appears, select the
  38.     right archive by double click, fields are filled automatically,
  39.     change anything that must be, then click on <Ok>.
  40.     'Inherit' works like 'Add' but the fields are filled with those of
  41.     the active operation when we clicked on <Inhe.> button.

  43.  6. Get informations
  44.     At any time, you can have numeric information about the account
  45.     and the current selection. Select some operations, click on <Info>
  46.     a window opens giving you these informations.

  48.  7. Changing the display
  49.     We can also define the operations display filter. Click on <Disp.>
  50.     button, adjust the parameters, the display is set between two
  51.     month + year limits (lower and upper), and some groups or not,
  52.     we can also fast set the limits from n month from current, view
  53.     all operation, and apply filter also on unvalidated operation,
  54.     then click on <Ok>.
